Customer provided feedback about our current physical access hardware (feedback relevant for both KES and FPR). Customer understands that we are planning to build physical access hardware in the future, but needs a contactless option now.
They want to have their third party biometrics device integrated with Procare's system to provide exterior access and check in/out functionality.
The name of the vendor that the customer is looking into as an option for securing their outer security door is called Iris ID, their site found here: https://www.irisid.com/
Customer has stated that this vendor has integrated with Goddard and another (unnamed) competitor of theirs successfully, and that they need to stay competitive with other childcare service providers who offer superior access hardware.
Do your staff find the management of PINS difficult, time consuming, and/or insecure?
"Contactless is the future - so the current [Procare DT] system is not difficult or time consuming yet it is becoming outdated at this point. The app with the QR code scan became a preferred way of check-in for both staff and children until it would not work with our front door hardware post Covid."
Do your families dislike the system for similar or other reasons?
"No one prefers to have 1000 different fingers on the same device each day- parents or staff. Also the amount of time our biometric is offline at some locations is frustrating. Also - if a unit goes down it is a lengthy process to replace the device."
Is this a perception issue where the existing hardware meets your needs in a practical sense but is not on-brand with your status as a high-value service provider?
"...parents have previously been to competitors that are “below us” as a perception that provide key fobs or different other contactless options such as the iris technology that seem to outweigh our fingerprint system as a premium concept."
Are you specifically looking for an iris scanner as opposed to another type of authentication method (biometric or otherwise)?
"We are looking at the iris concept being a premium type system. But we are at this point only looking at contactless systems nothing else. But we are open to other options as long as they are contactless."
The customer wants to connect us with their vendor who has questions about how to connect the two systems. Restful API was mentioned when the customer requested this.
