Classrooms and Work Areas

For family accounts, in the filter view, when I try to filter by child and classroom - I cannot see the classrooms if they are not also set as work areas. Except I need to have different works areas than I do classrooms. It is frustrating that when I try to customize my work areas it is making filtering by classroom impossible. The classrooms are functioning correctly and in my humble opinion should be what is pulled by the filter when attempting to filter by classroom.
