Mandate break time of 30 mins for the employees

Dear Procare Team,

We are reaching out to request an enhancement to Procare’s time-tracking functionality to help us comply with regulatory requirements set by the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Specifically, we need the ability to mandate a 30-minute lunch break for staff and prevent them from checking back in before the break time is fully completed.

Currently, staff members have the flexibility to clock back in before 30 minutes, which can lead to non-compliance with DCYF regulations. This presents challenges for us as a licensed childcare facility, as we must ensure that all staff take their full, required break time.

We propose the following feature enhancements:

  1. Enforce a Minimum Break Duration – Once a staff member clocks out for lunch, they should not be able to clock back in until 30 minutes have elapsed.

  2. Customizable Break Rules – Allow administrators to configure break enforcement rules, such as adjusting required break duration based on state-specific regulations.

  3. Alerts and Notifications – If a staff member attempts to clock in early, a system alert should notify them of the remaining required break time.

This feature would be incredibly beneficial in helping childcare providers like us stay compliant with state regulations while ensuring staff take their required breaks. Please let us know if this enhancement is possible and whether it can be prioritized in a future update.

We appreciate your consideration and look forward to your response.
