TE POS should default to $0.00 if the balance is below $0.00 to avoid accidental refunds

Summary
TSYS recently blocked some unusually large refund attempts that were unintentionally initiated at the point of sale. The issue stems from the TE POS screen defaulting the transaction amount to the account’s current ledger balance. This is allowed because swiped refunds currently do not check for a Max Amount equal to the amount processed with the swiped payment method in the last 60 days like handkeying does.

Requested Change
When the ledger balance is negative (credit balance), the default amount on the TE POS screen should be $0.00, requiring staff to manually enter any negative (refund) amount.

Rationale
This prevents accidental refunds caused by pre-filled negative amounts and reduces financial risk to centers.

Acceptance Criteria

  • If ledger balance < $0.00, default transaction amount = $0.00.

  • User must manually enter a negative amount to process a refund.

  • (Optional) Display a clear warning when entering a negative amount: “You are issuing a refund.”
