Update Password Reset Email Wording

The password reset email currently instructs users to "reach out to the team" if they did not initiate the reset request. However, there is no meaningful action customer-facing teams can take in these cases beyond informing the client that anyone can submit a password reset using an email address and advising them to ignore it if they did not initiate the request.

This messaging:

  • Causes confusion and frustration for clients, as they take the time to reach out only to be told there’s no further action required.

  • Increases the volume of contacts to customer-facing teams.

  • Creates a false expectation that the team can take protective or investigative action.

Suggested Update: 'If you did not initiate a password reset, or no longer need to reset your password, no action is needed. Your password will not be reset.'

This messaging:

  • Is similar to wording used by major companies such as Twitch, Poshmark, Chipotle, Instagram and more in their reset emails.

  • Uses 'No action is needed' rather than 'Please ignore this message', so it does not deter users from reaching out should they have security concerns or wish to speak to the team regardless.

  • Sets clear expectations and improves user experience.
